Introduction || This 2-week-long mountain biking Sikkim and Darjeeling hills tour covers the most sought-after travel destinations across the eastern Himalayan region, forming a dynamic biking North East India journey. Designed as a terrain-diverse mountain biking India experience, the expedition blends hill towns, alpine backdrops, tea landscapes, and foothill plains within a continuous cycling circuit.
The ride begins in Kurseong, a low-altitude hill station in Darjeeling, setting the tone for gradual elevation shifts and scenic Himalayan roads. From here, the journey enters Sikkim, covering its western and southern regions before reaching Gangtok, the capital town. These stretches represent some of the most engaging mountain biking trails across the Darjeeling–Sikkim corridor, combining undulating hill roads with panoramic Himalayan views.
After Gangtok, the route descends back toward North Bengal, heading to the foothill plains of Dooars via Kalimpong. The final phase includes a stay at a nature resort near Gorumara National Park, where participants can experience a wildlife safari, adding ecological variety to this expansive Himalaya biking itinerary. Across multiple segments of the journey, riders pass through picturesque villages, lush tea estates, and agricultural fields, all set against the dramatic backdrop of the snowy Himalayan range.
Accommodation throughout the tour includes a mix of standard hotels, lodges, and selected rural homestays, offering both comfort and local immersion. The route is carefully designed to avoid traffic-infested roads wherever possible, although certain unavoidable patches remain. Structured for riders aged 18 and above with a minimum level of mountain biking experience, this two-week program delivers a balanced and accessible introduction to extended mountain biking Sikkim and the broader eastern Himalayan cycling landscape.
