Goechala Round Trek
From undefined/day A Bespoke Round High-altitude Trek to Goechala in Kanchenjunga National Park
Destination Covered || Dzongri * Goechala * Kasturi Orar * Tashiding
Introduction | Unlike the conventional Yuksom–Goechala route, this extended Goechala trek concludes at Tashiding instead of looping back to Yuksom, creating a distinctive round circuit within the broader landscape of trekking Sikkim. After reaching Goechala, the trail shifts direction via Lam Pokhri and Kasturi Orar, offering a lesser-known yet rewarding continuation through remote terrain within the greater Kanchenjunga trek corridor.
This alternate route is both more challenging and more fascinating, ideally suited for hikers who prefer exploring less-trodden sections of Sikkim trekking. The path beyond Lam Pokhri remains largely free from regular trekking traffic due to its remoteness. This isolation preserves the serenity of the high-altitude environment and enhances the wilderness experience central to meaningful Himalaya trekking. The terrain offers opportunities to encounter rare wildlife, including Himalayan Blue Sheep and Musk deer, reinforcing the ecological richness of this trekking Kanchenjunga landscape.
A defining highlight of this Goechala trek is reaching the Goechala Pass View Point at 4,800 meters, located within the core of Kanchenjunga National Park. The early morning ascent to the viewpoint allows trekkers to capture first light on Mt Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak in the world. This moment stands as one of the most iconic photographic experiences within Sikkim trekking.
Throughout the journey, trekkers traverse a wide range of Himalayan terrain — dense moist forests, vibrant rhododendron valleys, deep river gorges, expansive alpine meadows, snowfields, glaciers, and pristine lakes. The route provides close views of multiple Greater Himalayan peaks exceeding 7,000 meters, offering rare proximity to some of the highest summits in the region. As a remote and terrain-diverse West Sikkim trek, this itinerary represents one of the most immersive expressions of Himalaya trekking in eastern India.
